                    This day is 4th of this course. This morning, the weather is cooler than several day ago. It has windy. It makes we wear coat. In this period, we started study by my instructor gave us do speaking activity that what did you study last week? And talked summary that our know about part 1 of Secret by Tim Winton. After that, my instructor gave us read part 2 of Secret by Tim Winton. Then, she gave us discuss part 2 of Secret by Tim Winton with our partner. Next, She gave us check answer part 2 of Secret by Tim Winton together with her. And the last one, she answer exercise part 2 of secret by Tim Winton. In this period, I find difficult is unknow some vocabulary. My solve a problem is use dictionary and listen my instructor cursory translate. My attitude of this period is fun because it is story that I can imagine.   

This is the summarize of part 1 

                Kylie feels left out from her mother and Philip's activities. She becomes interested in the chickens in the yard. Somehow her secret helps her to feel less lonely. She finds a second egg and then find out where other are being laid by an unhealthy-looking hen. She added another egg to the nest. Kylie felt left out of family. She feel misses her father.

This is the summarize of part 2

                Kylie watches the hen sitting on ten eggs. She takes the lid off the well. She starts to go down the well with her photo album every day. She watches Philip and her mother and wonders why her father is hot with them. Philip discovers her in the well and hit her. Kylie throws the it down the well. She chooses one special photo which makes her feel good. Kylie cut off her head from the special photo and throws it away.

Here are some sentences about the three people in this story.

Kylie

    - I feel sorry for Kylie because she doesn't left with her father and she lonely.

Kylie's mother

    - I dislike Kylie's mother because she loves new husband more than her daughter.

Philip

    - I disapprove of Philip because he always shout&hit Kylie.

- The eggs refer to Kylie's friend when she lonely.

- The well refer to special place of Kylie.

- The photo refer to past of her memory.

Zika: Olympics plans announced by Rio authorities

The Rio de Janeiro authorities have announced plans to prevent the spread of the Zika virus during the Olympic Games later this year.

           An outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease - which is being linked to severe birth defects - has caused growing concern in Brazil and abroad.

Inspections of Olympic facilities will begin four months before the Games to get rid of mosquito breeding grounds.Daily sweeps will also take place during the Games.But fumigation would only be an option on a case-by-case basis because of concerns for the health of the athletes and visitors.

          The Brazilian health ministry says it is also banking on the fact that the Games are taking place in the cooler, drier month of August when mosquitoes are far less evident and there are considerably less cases of mosquito-borne virus.

           The announcement by the Rio authorities comes amidst growing attention around the world over the large number of cases of Zika in the Americas.

Brazil has the largest-known outbreak of the virus which has been linked to a spike in birth defects in new-born babies whose mothers were bitten by the mosquito during pregnancy.

            The US, Canada and EU health agencies have issued warnings saying pregnant women should avoid travelling to Brazil and other countries in the Americas which have registered cases of Zika.

     - Moved the corpse to face north.
     - Placed the corpse in a sandal wood coffin.
     - Brought out of the house and placed on an open platform beneath the granary.
     - Prepared the "lakian".

A gun and bomb attack by Islamic militants in Indonesia's capital Jakarta has come to an end with police regaining control.

The attack which reportedly had at least two suicide bombers began when "sixgunmen on motorbikes entered the downtown area carrying long rifles, shooting into the crowd, with some carrying explosives. One of the gunman shot a police officer from close range."

A discourse Approach in Reading.









First hour : Dr'Usa is introduce the course (e.g.course description,aim,objectives,content,teaching and learning activities,evaluation and assessment,learning materials as well as 5 domains of learning). She told every weeks wrote learning reflections on weblogs and classroom rules.
                                        1. Be punctual.
                                        2. Pay attention to the lesson.
                                        3. Do not use cell phones in the classroom.
                                        4. Do not cheat.
                                        5. Follow dress code policy.
                                        6. Listen while others are speaking or sharing.



- Made exercise 1 : Analyse the text below and exercise 2 : Read (My grandpa's Funeral in Toraja) this text and answer the questions that follow.





                    

Week 15 : 16/11/58

 Monday 16 November 2015

              Dr'Usa taught about "Extensive Reading.'' When the class started. She gave us reading the text (simply read) and did the exercises-comprehension1 and comprehension2 around 15 minutes. Then I read the text, I would look at the heading of the text first and sub-heading of the paragraph. And then I previewed the article of Simply read for speed reading. After I had already read previewing, I used scanning again for keeping reading and interpretation story. I read the questions and found the answers. I think this text was easy but sometimes I didn't know the vocabularies or main idea of each paragraph,

               Next, She gave us around 30 minutes for preparing for the test. It's time for testing. She gave us the test papers, expained how to do the test and let's start the test. When I saw the test papers and read the questions for finding the answers. It made me to be serious too much.

                Finally, my attitudes toward this lesson is useful for all students because extensive reading is simply reading a lot of English (reading almost everyday) at a fairly easy level (being able to understand the text without needing dictionary). Reading improves students' writing skills and also help speaking skills as well as listening skills to a lesser extent.

week14 : 9/11/58

Today I learned English Reading Strategies. I learned continue from last week. The teacher asked us to answer our homework of last week but, everyone can’t do it. So, teacher read and summarized this passage for us. Then, we did exercise from this unit. At the last hour Dr'Usa said next week had test.

- Exchange homework with my friends for checked.

- Brainstroming in group and presented about "The impact of the ASEAN community , How to prepare yourself in ASEAN" topic in the classroom.

- Wrote on the board about "research on English language reading".

- My friends are wrote the answered this ASEAN exercise for checked on the board.

week13 : 8/11/58

Today,I'm learned  English Reading Strategies on Sunday 8 November 2015 at 08.30-12.30 a.m. because last week had cancled class.Teacher read and summarized this passage for us. Then, we did exercise from this unit.


- Answered homework on the classroom.
- Reading too fast about "Hints for reading practice" passage made exercise and exchanges for checked your answered with my friends
- Learned about "How to read faster correctly" by Dr'Usa.
- Homework : Hints for speed reading practice ?
  * Don't know some idioms.
  * Comprehension.
  * Difficult words.
  * The passage aren't interesting.
  * Stop reading and found unknown most meaning.

- Wrote on the board about "Did you know ASEAN ?".

- Saw this video about ASEAN.

- Wrote full word from "ASEAN" on the board.

- Read "Obstacles to faster effective reading" passage and made exercise : read the passage from beginning to end.Then decide whether the following statements are true or false according to information given the passage.
